Liverpool’s Premier League lead was reduced to seven points following a thrilling 3-3 draw against Newcastle. Chelsea moved to second with a dominant 5-1 victory over Southampton, while Arsenal climbed to third after defeating Manchester United 2-0. Manchester City ended a seven-game winless streak with a 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest.
Liverpool’s draw at St. James’ Park saw Newcastle’s Fabian Schar score a 90th-minute equaliser after Mohamed Salah had netted twice to give Liverpool the lead. Arne Slot’s side, which has now dropped points for the third time this season, remains atop the standings but faces renewed challenges from its rivals, the Associated Press (AP) reported.
Chelsea capitalised on Liverpool’s draw with a resounding win over Southampton. Goals from Axel Disasi, Christopher Nkunku, Noni Madueke, Cole Palmer, and Jadon Sancho highlighted the rout, as Southampton, reduced to 10 men after Jack Stephens’ red card, struggled to compete.
Arsenal delivered a 2-0 win over Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium, handing new United head coach Ruben Amorim his first defeat. Goals from Jurrien Timber and William Saliba from corners secured the victory for Mikel Arteta’s team, keeping their title hopes alive despite slipping to third.
Manchester City, with Kevin De Bruyne returning to the starting lineup, ended its slump with a convincing 3-0 win against Nottingham Forest. De Bruyne, who scored and assisted Bernardo Silva’s opener, received a standing ovation upon his substitution in the 74th minute. Jeremy Doku added City’s third goal, but injuries to Nathan Ake and Manuel Akanji raised concerns for Pep Guardiola.
Elsewhere, Everton moved further from the relegation zone with a 4-0 win over Wolverhampton, featuring goals from Ashley Young and Orel Mangala, alongside two own goals by Craig Dawson. Aston Villa ended a nine-game winless streak with a 3-1 victory over Brentford, thanks to strikes from Morgan Rogers, Ollie Watkins, and Matty Cash.
